I am a mechanic and have owned workshops where we serviced automatic gearboxes, but I have a SsangYong diesel ute which had a problem with the transmission. I went to automatic transmission specialists I Tamworth ,Sydney, Tweed Heads, Inverell Brisbane and even spoke to the manufacturers of the gearbox no one had a clue of what it may have been. and everyone I spoke to said it could cost thousands of dollars to fix the problem, after two months of desperate searching I heard about Paul Vakranoff, and phoned him with not much hope of getting satisfaction. Tracked down M1 Automatics for a transmission rebuild on my beloved 35 year old MB 380SL. Upon arrival workshop clean as a wistle and full of other classic cars and modern. Rebuild was tricky and not without out a few curly issues but Paul sorted it all for a just & fair price. Worth the 35 km drive and train trips. Good shops and owners are hard to find. TRANSMISSION REBUILD VERSUS EXCHANGE

Unsure whether a transmission rebuild or exchange, is right for your vehicle?

An exchange transmission is already rebuilt and ready to go, so you’ll be able to get back on the road - sooner. The exchange transmission features the same parts that would be used if we rebuilt your original transmission - and the cost will be similar.

Some transmissions can’t be kept rebuilt on an exchange basis, due to a vehicle’s internal computers.

Fitting the wrong transmission can cause operational problems as the computer communicates to the entire vehicle.

Therefore, in these cases, we’ll have to rebuild your original transmission.

An accurate quote will be provided once the transmission has been stripped down. Hard parts including pumps, clutch drums, casings and gear sets can wear poorly and may have to be replaced during the rebuild process.
